My project focuses on my life and where I have lived a majority of it. I showed my place of birth and hometown. I tried to pick places where I can remember the best memories that I've had throughout my life like family vacation spots and my favorite places from my childhood like the softball field. I used the tagging feature to tag 10 of my favorite spots that I have been to. I also used the image overlay feature to add photos of WHS on top of it's location. I really wanted to find a use for the polygon feature so I tried to think of a polygon landmark. I found the Pentagon and highlighted it with a polygon so you can easily see how it's size relates to the rest of the country.
I struggled with saving my project from day to day. It was very frustrating to work all class period on adding images and markers, only to come in the next day and have it disappear. I thought that it was also very difficult to reorder my places so the tour would make sense. There are definitely some improvements that should be made to this program before it is ready to be used regularly in academics. I would recommend for anyone trying to use this program to keep a separate folder and save each of their places separately so they are easy find.

Alex,
ReplyDeleteI thought your Google Earth Project was very interesting. There were a few flaws though.
The one that really stood out to me was this quote:
"Haverhill Cooperative Middle School is where i attended upper elementary school and junior high. I learned there for five years before coming going to High School."
There were a few grammatical and spelling errors such as the "i" and where it says "coming going."
I did like the polygon. It seemed like a more feminine version of mine.
Alex,
ReplyDeleteYou put your Google Earth Project together very well. You had a good group of locations of your past and where you have lived.
I also agree with you like I did with Cole. It was very frustrating to go and save something, and then be unsure if you saved it the right way, and then loose all of your work. I think that it is harder in some areas, but then in others it can be done by just a click.
I like your use of the pentagon:P
But overall, you did very very very good(: I got to know more about you without having to ask too many questions. :P
I forgot to mention one thing. I think you should change the size of your softball though. It covers the whole town of North Haverhill.
